FAQ

FAQ

WHAT IS PROJECT PARKOUR?

Project Parkour is a 64-person, online Parkour competition. The winner will take home $10,000 and become Fight or Flight Academy Online's next Masterclass instructor.

WHEN WILL IT

HAPPEN?

Submissions for Project Parkour open Monday, 6/29, and stay open until Monday, 7/6
On 7/7, Project Parkour will launch it's first head-to-head rounds.

WHO IS PUTTING ON

THIS EVENT?

Project Parkour is a creation from Fight or Flight Academy. Fight or Flight Academy has been brewing big things during the pandemic, and this is our first big hit of many soon to come. There is no outside sponsorship for Project Parkour.

HOW WILL PROJECT PARKOUR BE JUDGED?
The seeding of the tournament bracket will be done internally by Fight or Flight Academy. Once the bracket is chosen, the first two rounds of Project Parkour will be 100% community voting. After that, rounds 3, 4 and 5 will be split 50/50 between judges and the community. 50% community voting, and 10% of the vote to each judge.

HOW WILL PROJECT PARKOUR BE JUDGED?
There are 4 criteria for all judging. Execution, flow, creativity, and difficulty. We judge in that order. Landing tricks (execution) is the most important element. After than, having clean and fluid combos (flow) is second. Third is creativity: use your spot in an interesting and unexpected way. Fourth is difficulty. Many of you may wonder "why put difficulty at the bottom?" We put difficulty at the bottom because it is the "decider." We are tired of the focus on huge tricks, and want to see consistency. If two people do the same run, one on grass and one on concrete, chances are the concrete line will still win.

WON'T THAT JUST BE A POPULARITY CONTEST?
Our aim is to make Project Parkour fair, and representative of the community. From the seeding of the bracket, to the judging of the finals, we have judging elements. Ultimately, many of the most popular athletes are also the best. However, the core of Project Parkour is the LINES! Popularity can only take you so far, so long as the community votes for what line they like, and not the athlete they're a fan of.

WHO IS PROJECT PARKOUR FOR?
Project Parkour is for anyone in the world. The whole purpose of an online competition is reducing the barrier for people to participate. If you've got a phone, an internet connection, and some sick moves, then Project Parkour is for you!

IS THERE AN AGE LIMIT?
Project Parkour is open to anyone of majority age. Anyone of minority age (under 18 years-old, in most countries) may compete with the express permission of a parent or guardian.

HOW COME THERE IS ONLY ONE WINNER?
Project Parkour is Fight or Flight Academy's first dip into the waters. We wanted to be able to have the largest prize for a competition in Parkour history. That meant there would only be one winner. Believe us when we say it though, if you do well, you're on our radar.

CAN WOMEN

COMPETE?

We only really had an option for one winner. Anyone, of any gender is welcome to submit. Based on the ratio of submissions we get from men and women, we plan to seed the bracket according to that ratio. We believe every athlete that puts their best foot forward can have a fair chance in Project Parkour.

WHAT'S NEXT FOR PROJECT PARKOUR?
This is only the beginning for Project Parkour. If everything goes well, Project Parkour will be an ongoing title for events from Fight or Flight Academy. The sky is the limit! We hope to have prizes for the whole podium, a separate women's competition, and even more.
